It is estimated that there are over 143 million orphans in the world today, and millions of them are growing up on the streets or in institutions that lack the resources to provide the love and care that every child deserves. Senator Inhofe is a staunch defender of life, standing for the rights of the most defenseless among us – the unborn child. He believes that an unborn child is a life, and therefore is granted the “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” that the Declaration of Independence outlines as rights given by the Creator. Denying life to the unborn conflicts with these stated protections and undermines the value of life in our society.
Senator Inhofe is also an ardent supporter of adoption, and views it as an alternative to abortion. He is a leader in the Senate in advocating pro-adoption legislation both domestically and internationally. As the co-chairman of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, and as a grandfather of an adopted girl from Ethiopia, he has experienced the joys of adoption first hand. This has given Senator Inhofe a heart to promote safe efficient adoptions, as well as legislation that encourages more families to take in children in need of foster care.
