National Defense

As the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Inhofe works to ensure that our men and women in uniform have the resources they need to defend this nation. He is a relentless supporter of our military, and he is a proponent of a well-equipped fighting force.  Having traveled overseas on numerous occasions to visit our troops on the front lines and stationed around the world, Senator Inhofe knows that a strong national defense that protects this nation and defends liberty is one of the most important functions of our federal government.

Jim is a friend to the warfighter. He makes sure that our men and women in uniform have everything they need to accomplish their mission. And when they return home, he ensures that we honor their service. When the Department of Defense recently tried to take away tuition assistance programs for our veterans, Jim authored and passed legislation that let them know that breaking our commitment was not an option. From legislation to establish state of the art medical treatment facilities to pushing for health care benefits and pension plans, Senator Inhofe has been a champion for veterans’ causes.

Oklahoma has a rich military history and a strong heritage of service to this nation.  Jim has worked to protect, strengthen, and improve the various military installations around the state.  Thanks in-part to Senator Inhofe’s work, when other states saw a reduction in defense related jobs, Oklahoma experienced job growth at each of its five military installations.
